AUCTION FAQ

How do I buy tickets?

Right here- click on the link at the bottom of the page.

Why attend the auction and what do you do with the money raised?

To have fun and connect with other families and staff! This is our first in-person fundraiser since 2020, and we are looking forward to a long-awaited celebration. Hawthorne has done an amazing job supporting our students and families throughout the Covid pandemic, thanks to the hard work and dedication of teachers, staff, families, and community members. The school’s needs continue to expand as we support even more programs and families to ensure a high-quality education for all students. By giving to the Friends of Hawthorne this year, you'll:

Expand Students’ Educational Opportunities

FOH supports educational opportunities to help minimize gaps in state and local education funding, with a majority of our funding going to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) programs and activities. In the past, the auction has raised funds to launch an artist-in-residence program, replace outdated computers, and overhaul the school’s stage, so students have a performance space where they can proudly perform.

Enrich Students’ Academic Experience

FOH is focused on building an inclusive community and celebrating our diversity. Funds from the auction support field trips that expand students’ horizons and facilitate activities that emphasize our sense of community such Dia De Los Muertos, field day, 5th grade graduation, and literacy, math, and health/fitness nights.

Provide Family Support Resources

Hawthorne serves a very diverse community, both racially and economically, and also welcomes many immigrant families. Our student population includes 40% living in low-income households and 10% homeless. FOH provides critical funding to support these students to help ensure that ALL students have the opportunity to participate and be successful.

Make Our Community Stronger

The auction is a great opportunity to meet other Hawthorne parents and caregivers, while also supporting your local public school, and small businesses. Plus, it’s a super fun night, filled with great food, drinks and auction items you will love. And, 5% of everything raised goes to the SE Seattle Schools Fundraising Alliance to support other schools in our area.

What does my ticket include?

Your ticket includes 1 alcoholic beverage and dinner from a taco truck. Additional drinks will be available for purchase.

What should I expect at the auction?

Come ready to chat with faculty, Hawthorne parents, staff, and neighbors, eat delicious food, dance, bid on an item or two, and raise funds for Hawthorne.

Doors will open at 5pm (including the bar), dinner will start at 6pm, and the live auction and other programming will begin at 7pm.

At this fun and festive evening to celebrate our love for Hawthorne Elementary, there will be a taco truck dinner, including vegetarian options, a chance to purchase wine, craft beer, and signature cocktails from the no-host bar, and a dessert dash. The beginning of the evening features a silent auction, with lots of cool items including artwork, tickets to events, collector memorabilia and more. You’ll also hear from Hawthorne staff and parents speak about FOH-funded activities and events, and learn about some current needs at the school.

The highlight of the event will be a quick-paced entertaining live auction, hosted by a master auctioneer. Previous live auction items have included local and out-of-state vacation getaways, dining and wine packages; concert passes, home improvement packages, classroom movie night with the kindergarten teachers, a roller skating party; and so much more.

What should I wear?

There is no formal dress code, so come in whatever you’re comfortable wearing for a festive night out. The most important thing is that you have a good time and your clothes don’t prevent you from showing your love for Hawthorne or dancing to music by our DJ.

Can I bring my kids?

Book your babysitters! This event is for those 21 and up.

How do I donate something to the auction?

Auction Item: Email meganbelling (at) gmail.com if you have an item you’d like to donate or to connect the procurement team to potential auction donors and/or items.

We're currently looking for cake/dessert donation from you, either homemade or from any of your favorite bakeries or restaurants.
