When: March 18, 10-11 am (proposed; time is flexible depending on participants)

About the class: Primordial Sound Meditation is a mantra-based breath awareness practice that is a cornerstone practice for anyone looking to bring more ease, joy, and creativity into their day-to-day life. Everyone is welcome - whether meditation is totally new for you or you're looking to re-energize your practice.

In this intro class we will:

  • Deepen your understanding of what meditation is - and isn't  - including its physical, mental, and emotional benefits.
  • Learn the mechanics of stress release and how to practice meditation as an antidote to stress.
  • Understand what normally happens during meditation (thoughts, feelings, emotions, sensations, etc.) and how to deal with them when they arise.
  • Practice new meditation techniques and talk about how to use them on your own.

Practicing Primordial Sound Meditation on a daily basis can help you:

  • Improve your relationships - with your kids, partner, colleagues, friends, etc.
  • Manage stress
  • Reduce impatience and anxiety
  • Create inner peace
  • Awaken your intuition
  • Lower your blood pressure
  • Become less judgmental
  • Connect to the universal spirit
  • Enhance your sleep patterns

Lead by Hawthorne parent Allie Siegel. Allie is a Chopra-certified Primordial Sound Meditation and Ayurvedic teacher who is all about finding small, sustainable ways to be more balanced and intentional. Her meditation practice has evolved over the past 15 years, starting with an Ashtanga Yoga practice, as a way to heal chronic health problems. She recently started a small consulting practice to help nonprofit and community leaders find balance through new ways of working. She has lived in South Seattle for almost 10 years with her husband, three kids ages 1 to 7.5, and their dog, who is afraid of people.
